Community Resistance + Resilience Program

organizing communities. Resisting injustice. Building Alternatives.

CELDF provides training, organizing support, and strategic guidance to assist communities and front line organizers to resist and build resiliency to destruction and oppression.

Here’s how we assist communities.

        • Drafting laws and providing strategic advice and legal support regarding rights of nature and community rights of self-determination initiatives
        • Community organizing advice and in-person support
        • Training and strategic assistance regarding direct actions and other forms of community defense
        • Education about legal traps that are expensive and frustrating time-sinks
        • Media support to help get your message out to regional and national press
        • Connecting you with relevant resources and experienced members of our network focused on the issue you’re dealing with

Our work focuses on the structural roots of the problems that we’re facing, including corporate power and the structure of the U.S. law as well as the cultural roots of domination of nature and human oppression.  We’ve worked specifically on many different issues including fracking, toxic waste, sewage dumping, homelessness, nuclear issues, logging, habitat destruction, mining, aerial spray of pesticides, military bases, factory farms, corporate media, censorship, immigration, police violence, and others.

We have supported communities and local governments across 21 US States & Canadian Provinces

areas of focus.

Community resistance and resilience involves a diversity of approaches, including working within dominant institutions and directly confronting the processes destroying communities. Members of communities are responsible for taking the necessary actions to protect each other and the natural communities they are a part of. We help communities ready to take action in four broad categories:
