Throughout our partnerships with hundreds of communities contending with the injustices of the coporate-dominated system, CELDF has seen community tragedies and triumphs unfold time and time again. In these situations, communities achieve success by working together even in the midst of difference. When people choose to come together for a common cause, they can organize effectively for resistance, grow resilience, and positively impact communities, people, and ecosystems.
Communities need support with resistance and resilence efforts.
Law restricts communities from deciding who can determine and advocate for their own well-being, health, and long-term sustainability. This status quo will not change until community members employ different tactics and work together to create a healthy and regenerative home.
Getting started on this path towards community resistance and resilience can be a challenge. That’s why CELDF partners with other organizations and experts to offer the Community Resistance + Resilience Program (CR+R) as an effective resource for communities looking for change.
True resistance and reslience grows from the understanding that humans are connected to ecosystems that provide for us. We can and must work together to protect our communities. Protection requires pushing back against threats from the dominant system. Our CR+R Program provides the action-focused local support communities need to begin their path towards self-determination.
What Does Community Resistance + Resilience Look Like?
Community resistance and resilience looks like community members taking the necessary actions to protect each other and the natural communities they’re part of. This can involve a diversity of approaches, including working within dominant institutions or directly confronting the processes destroying communities.
Who can benefit from a CELDF CR+R program?
Our goal is to assist communities wanting to resist the incursions of the corporate state, while developing resilience that reflects greater community level self-reliance. CELDF supports local grassroots citizen groups as well as local governments.

How can CELDF help you and your community?
CELDF’s CR+R program takes a variety of forms. The support we offer may also develop over the course of our relationship with you, depending on your goals and needs at any given time.
Assessing and strategizing
CELDF’s Consultation team will help you figure out your situation, needs, and if CELDF can help. From there, we move into deeper conversations with you and other community members to determine goals and strategies.
Training and resources
Through CELDF, its partners, and an even larger global network, we can provide training to bring people up to speed in a multitude of areas:
- organizing a citizen action group
- dealing with the media
- planning an effective protest
- instituting a long term mutual aid program
- creating a new form of local governance
Guidance and support
Depending on your community’s goals and the project you decide to undertake, we can take a leadership position for your community or act as an occasional sounding board or advisor. CELDF, or our partners, can provide direct support.
On-the-ground resources
Have a team to support you and your community will be extremely helpful. Our CR+R program will assist your community as a lead change agent and can bring our team or partners to your community for support.
