This was an international webinar for the People’s Climate Summit held in Antalya, Turkey, parallel to COP31 in November, featuring Max Wilbert (CELDF’s Co-coordinator of the Community Resistance & Resilience Program and author of Biocentric) as the main speaker. Max, a writer, organizer, and activist, presented his critical perspective on renewable energy and green technologies, arguing that they represent a dangerous distraction from addressing the root causes of ecological collapse.
The discussion included questions about why more people don’t join environmental movements, the timing of ecological collapse, and Max’s views on Indigenous-led renewable energy projects, with Max emphasizing the need for direct experiences with nature and a return to biocentric values over technocentric approaches.
