CELDF’s Max Wilbert and Will Falk were recently interviewed on Unredacted Tonight, hosted by Lee Camp. They joined to talk about the absurd, nearly $50,000 fine that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has levied against them personally for building composting toilets on land that is currently being destroyed for the 1,100 acre, 400-feet deep open pit part of Lithium Nevada’s “Thacker Pass” mine. The mine is slated to be the largest lithium mine in the world to feed the mad and misinformed dash towards so-called green energy solutions.
The now $50,000 pit toilets were built so that Native elders, some with severe mobility issues, had somewhere to use the bathroom while visiting Thacker Pass to pray for their ancestors massacred there by the federal government in 1865. The interview with Max and Will starts at about the hour mark but the whole episode is worth listening to.
