On July 19, 2023, CELDF’s Tish O’Dell will be presenting at the UAW Region 2B Leadership Institute at the Walter and May Reuther UAW Family Education Center in Onaway, Michigan. The goal of this conference is to provide local union leaders and members with the skills and information they need to best serve our members.
Tish O’Dell will be addressing how workers’ rights are part of the Community Rights Movement. In recent years we have seen advances made by workers of the past being eroded little by little. Workers’ wages are not keeping up with inflation, benefits are being cut, longer hours are expected and worst of all, their right to free speech and to organize is being quashed as well. When big employers come to town and don’t pay workers enough to pay for basic living expenses, it is the community that winds up subsidizing these community members.
