On this week’s program, we have an election round-up – looking at races in Washington State – as well as ballot initiatives across the country. We look at results and provide analysis for what the outcomes mean for the future on issues including medical marijuana, legalizing marijuana, payday loans, abortion, and the federal health care bill. In addition, we interview Ben Price of the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund about his work with the City of Pittsburgh as it considers an ordinance to ban corporations from natural gas drilling.

Listen to CELDF’s radio program – Democracy Matters – every Wednesday at 12:30pm Eastern/9:30 am Pacific, or Thursday at 10 am Eastern/7 am Pacific, at KYRS, Spokane’s Thin Air Community Radio.  You can also listen anytime by podcasting the show.

We are also pleased to announce the syndication of the show on Public Reality Radio, WPRR, 1680 AM and 95.3 FM in Grand Rapids.  The show airs at 6 am Eastern every Tuesday morning.

Each week on Democracy Matters we bring you stories from the frontlines as communities bring rights-based organizing to their communities – asserting their local self-governing authority to make the critical decisions that affect their lives and their community.

If you are interested in having Democracy Matters broadcast on your local community radio station, give them a call and let them know.
