Local Democracy: Empowering Economic, Social & Environmental Justice

what’s happening?

The New Hampshire Community Rights Network (NHCRN), in partnership with CELDF, is presenting a workshop at the 2018 NH Progressive Summit “Resistance to Power.”

Michelle Sanborn (NHCRN President), NH State Rep. Ellen Read (2018 sponsor of the NH Community Rights Amendment), and Monica Christofili (Co-founder of ANCER) present the Local Democracy: Empowering Economic, Social & Environmental Justice workshop. They’ll explore how political and legal structures have been set up to protect the interests of an elite wealthy minority at the expense of the majority of people and nature. They’ll look at how corporations have received more rights and protections than real people and ecosystems living in communities.  And they’ll dive into how communities have pushed back against these oppressive structures to protect nature and reclaim local democracy – communities’ work at the state level with a proposed Community Rights Amendment.
