CELDF has been assisting New Hampshire residents to protect their water for over a decade. Nottingham and Barrington residents are working together to enforce their Community Bills of Rights that prohibit corporate water withdrawals, because new investors have threatened to violate the bans.
As part of their organizing, Nottingham and Barrington residents are hosting CELDF’s Democracy School – a stimulating and illuminating course that teaches residents and activists how to reframe exhausting and often discouraging single issue work (such as opposing big box retail, fossil fuel extraction, fracking, GMOs, etc.) in a way that we can confront corporate control and state preemption on a powerful single front: people’s inalienable rights.
