Asheville, NC, residents face Duke Energy, which is attempting to force fracked gas power plants and pipelines on communities across the region.
Residents have had enough, and are organizing to advance community rights and stop Duke Energy’s unsustainable development. As part of their organizing, they are hosting CELDF’s Democracy School – a stimulating and illuminating course that teaches residents and activists how to reframe exhausting and often discouraging single issue work (such as opposing big box retail, fossil fuel extraction, fracking, GMOs, etc.) in a way that we can confront corporate control and state preemption on a powerful single front: people’s inalienable rights.
